About

Meet Zakopane with a local

Zakopane sits at the foot of the Tatras — Poland’s only alpine mountain range — and carries a culture entirely its own. The górale (highlanders) have their own dialect, architecture, music, and food that has nothing to do with the Polish plains.

Beyond the tourist promenade lies a world of shepherd trails, centuries-old wooden churches, and valleys where silence is interrupted only by cowbells.

Trovi hosts in Zakopane are hikers, locals, and mountain guides who know the Tatras in every season.

Local tips

🍽️

Buy oscypek (smoked sheep cheese) from highlanders on Krupówki — it's far better fresh than packaged.

🚇

Avoid driving in summer — buses from Kraków are faster and drop you right in the centre.

🌙

Góralskie karczmy (highland taverns) host live music and dancing on weekend evenings — no booking needed.

🎨

Morskie Oko is unmissable but go early morning to beat the crowds — it's a 2-hour walk from the bus stop.

🔒

Mountain weather changes fast. Even in summer, pack a waterproof layer for any hike.
